This is the first-ever full-color guide to Colorado’s highest Thirteeners! The 6 x 9 inch soft-cover book contains 368 pages and 204 routes on Colorado’s 59 highest Thirteeners between 13,800 feet and 13,999 feet. We call these peaks the “Centennial Thirteeners.” Combined with the Fourteeners, the Centennial Thirteeners comprise Colorado’s 100 highest peaks. The guide also contains 60 fine, full-color photographs of the peaks, and 33 full-color, highly annotated topographic maps. In addition to the 59 headlined peaks, the guide also covers summit routes on 73 additional peaks. The book is laid out in the same style as Gerry’s Fourteeners guide.
Peaks covered include Mount Meeker, which is visible from Denver, and more reclusive beauties such as Arrow, Vestal, and Jagged in the San Juan Range. With an even mix of hikes, scrambles, and climbs, as well as an average of almost four routes per peak, there is something for everyone in Colorado’s Thirteeners. This book carries a heavy emphasis on safety and the leave-no-trace environmental ethic. Colorado’s Thirteeners is a grand celebration of the joys that come from climbing Colorado’s highest peaks.
