This is the easiest route on Teocalli. From the West Brush Creek 4WD Trailhead at 10,440 feet, follow the Teocalli Trail (FT 554) west for 1.2 miles as it climbs across the lower, southwest slopes of Teocalli Mountain to reach the junction with the Teocalli Ridge Trail on the ridge at 11,100 feet. Leave the main trail here, and follow a good use trail north through the woods for 200 yards to treeline where you can see the upper slopes of Teocalli (see photo). Climb northwest up the long, steepening grass slope toward a cliff on the southeast ridge. The use trail disappears in the grass. At the base of the cliff, angle northwest following the strata for 200 yards, and bypass the cliff. Once above the cliff at 12,800 feet, you can see the summit. Hike 0.25 mile west up a mixture of grass and rocks to the summit. The view from here is Elkerrific, and includes all five Elk Fourteeners.
