Scotland’s Aonach Eagach Ridge

Aonach Eagach means old man in Galic, and this name probably derives from the humps and bumps along the ridge crest. However, for the climber, these steep, exposed bumps provide exciting scrambling that request a youthful step. This ridge connects the two Munros Meall Dearg and Sgorr nam Fiannaidh, and the traverse is well known as one of Scotland’s classic outings.
