I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.

Loop Four - 2007 Snow and Ice 100

Map of Loop Four Loop Four

After striding back to our vehicles for a midnight break, we started anew into the darkness for Loop Four

Loop Four’s far point, and our indoor rest stop on this loop, was an all night King Soopers northwest of Chatfield

Then, we planned on reaching the Aspen Grove Starbucks for their opening at 6 AM

Now, it’s getting tough...

The deepest hours droned, including a frigid crossing of the entire Chatfield Dam, where the wind blew across the large body of ice before finding every crack in our clothes

Ever eager, we arrived at Starbucks 10 minutes early, but they wouldn’t let us in

Trying to stay warm, Gerry went shopping at the nearby Apple store, but alas, it too was closed

The darkest hour

Nothing to do but wait for Starbucks to let us in

Three minutes to go
