Let’s talk about King Peak. – Charlie Cambell - On Logan in 1973

Gerry took this photo in June 1973 from King Col en route to Logan.
We talked about climbing King Peak on this trip, but Logan was quite enough,
and we reluctantly let the King go. The ridge seen in this photo is the east ridge.
Gerry returned to climb King Peak in June 1999 via its west ridge, making only the seventh ascent
of King Peak. |
King Peak is 10 miles west-southwest of mighty Mount Logan
in the Canadian Yukon. King Peak is Logan’s satellite peak much
as Foraker is Denali’s queen. While lower than Logan, King Peak
is harder to climb than Logan. King Peak is the fourth highest
peak in Canada and the ninth highest peak in North America.
