Gerry took this photo from the air during a scenic flight in July 1993.
The pilot didn’t want to get this close to Logan, but the evening air
was still, and offering to pay extra, we took a surreal tour while Logan
passed in review. This is Logan’s northeast side. The east peak is the
high summit on the left, the main summit is obscured by cloud, and you
can just see the west summit to the right of the cloud. These three summits
are all over 19,000 feet. Logan’s other, lower summits trail off to the
right. |
Located in the Yukon, Mount Logan is Canada’s highest peak and the second
highest peak in North America. Cold, remote, huge and high,
Logan is one of Earth’s most amazing peaks.
I climbed Logan in 1973 as part of a world tour I called Odyssey.
