Notes by Gerry Roach

  1. There are 46 summits on this list.

  2. Gerry Roach’s totals: 87 ascents; 37/46 overall
    Jennifer Roach’s totals: 118 ascents; 38/46 overall
Gerry and Jennifer’s combined total: 205 ascents
    As of 10/5/06

  3. The pass separating the Front Range from the Tenmile-Mosquito Range is 11,481-foot Boreas Pass. Many assume that Hoosier Pass separates these two ranges simply because CO 9 crosses this pass, and it is more familiar to most people. However, Hoosier Pass is 11,539 feet high, so the slightly lower Boreas Pass is the connecting pass.

  4. The pass separating the Front Range from the Park Range is 8,710-foot Muddy Pass, which is crossed by US 40. This definition makes the Rabbit Ears Range a sub range of the Front Range. The pass separating the Rabbit Ears Range from the rest of the Front Range is 9,621-foot Willow Creek Pass.

  5. The pass separating the Gore Range from the Tenmile-Mosquito Range is 10,580-foot Vail Pass, which is crossed by I 70. The peaks on or near the Continental Divide between 11,340-foot Fremont Pass and Vail Pass are in the Tenmile-Mosquito Range, not the Gore Range.

  6. The pass separating the Tenmile-Mosquito Range and the Sawatch Range is 10,424-foot Tennessee Pass.

  7. The pass separating the Sawatch Range and the Sangre de Cristo Range is 9,019-foot Poncha Pass.

  8. The pass separating the Sawatch Range and the San Juan Range is 10,067-foot Cochetopa Pass. This makes the La Garitas a sub range of the San Juans. The pass separating the La Garitas and the rest of the San Juan Range is 10,898-foot Spring Creek Pass

  9. The pass separating the Sawatch Range and the Elk Range is an 11,920-foot pass one mile northeast of 11,928-foot Taylor Pass.
